Tourism Rebrand & Website Redesign

I collaborated with the Hazard Perry Tourism team during a rebrand and relocation to redesign their website and create a cohesive brand identity.

The goal was to build a modern, user-friendly experience that reflects the beauty, history, and adventure in the region.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Hazard Perry Tourism was undergoing a complete rebrand while relocating to a new visitor center. I worked closely with stakeholders to redesign their website, establish brand guidelines, create promotional materials, and develop a clear, engaging online experience based on the client's needs helping visitors discover everything the region has to offer.

THE CHALLENGE

Hazard Perry Tourism's existing website no longer represented the organization's new direction. The tourism office was simultaneously undergoing a brand refresh and relocating to a new building, creating an opportunity to redesign both its visual identity and online experience. The existing website lacked consistent branding, had outdated content, and needed a clearer structure that made it easier for visitors to navigate and explore local attractions, events, and history.

01 DISCOVER

I began the project by evaluating the existing website, conducting a content audit, and meeting with stakeholders to understand their goals, challenges, and desired features. Through these conversations, I identified key areas for improvement, including outdated content, inconsistent information, and navigation issues that made it difficult for users to find important resources.

The primary goal was to create a clean, modern, and easy-to-navigate website that served as a reliable information hub for visitors. The redesign focused on improving content organization, updating visuals with current photography, and creating a more intuitive browsing experience across all pages.

02 BRAND DEVELOPMENT

I collaborated with a coworker to develop an updated brand style guide based on the organization’s refreshed logo and updated marketing materials. This included defining brand colors, typography, and visual standards to create a consistent design system that could be easily referenced when developing new website features and promotional materials.

As part of the organization’s relocation efforts, I helped expand their public-facing brand presence through new promotional products. Working within budget and project goals, I brainstormed tourism-focused merchandise ideas and created multiple design concepts incorporating local imagery, Kentucky inspired elements, and existing brand assets. The client reviewed and selected their preferred designs, ultimately expanding the final product collection to include multiple variations that best represented their goals.

This involved consistent communication with clients for updated information and add-ons.

04 WIREFRAMES & WEBSITE DESIGN

Create rough mockups of key pages of the site and shared this and site map with client for feedback before moving into full design. Then created homepage for first visual, showing client clean layout, visuals, easy navigation, and how the website looks with elements of new brand identity.
